- Rate items on different point scales
- It has 13 questions divided in the following domains:
- Missing out, i.e. financial stress is reflected in the extent to which households are missing out on fully participating in daily life because of money constraints
- Cashflow problems, i.e. being unable to properly manage financial activities
- Hardship, i.e. due to a lack of money, the household had to go through or cope with extreme actions

- The scale suffered adaptations, focusing on severe financial stress questions, in the next ABS surveys (@phillips2022):
