Children well-being

  • @takeuchi1991 found that measures of economic stress were related to decreased children well-being:
    • Children who were never on welfare (vs. persistent welfare) have lower scores on impulsive behavior (b=-0.81), antisocial behavior (b=-1.22) and depressive symptoms (b=-0.91)
    • Children who were never under financial stress (vs. persistent stress) have lower scores on impulsive behavior (b=-0.44), antisocial behavior (b=—0.43) and depressive symptoms (b=-0.89)
  • @elder1988 found that income loss is related to different levels of child tantrums, according to mother affection:
    • For households with affectionate mothers, income loss directly decreased child tantrums (β=-0.21)
    • For households with undemonstrative mothers, income loss directly increased child tantrums (β=0.27), and increased it mediated by father arbitrary discipline (β=0.11)
